Your New AC Installation Guide

Air conditioners come in all shapes and sizes! Part of our job here at Guardian Plumbing & Heating is to provide you with adequate information to choose the right one for your home. This isn’t easy when we provide so many interesting and efficient systems!

Let’s break down each system and how they operate. We can then begin to approach the pros and cons of each system, giving you a more thorough idea of which type of air conditioner might be right for your home! Between central air conditioners, evaporative coolers, ductless systems, heat pumps, and more—there’s a lot to think about!

Luckily, we’re here to make AC services in Lloydminster a bit less complicated. Call us when you think you’ve got a good idea about the system that’s right for you. We’re always available to help keep your home comfortable and energy-efficient.

Different Strokes for Different Folks

It’s not possible to choose “the best” air conditioner in existence. That phrase just isn’t applicable when talking about cooling systems. Different homes and lifestyles require different types of air conditioners. That’s not a bad thing!

This just means the options are endless, and that you could find an air conditioner that’s uniquely perfect for you! Let’s take a look at the types that are out there.

Central Air Conditioners

Central air conditioners are easily the most famous of the systems. They’re the most common air conditioner, and usually the most affordable. They work by cycling refrigerant through an evaporator coil and a condenser coil that draws heat out of your home. This process then cools air to be distributed through your air ducts into your home. Simple, yet effective!

Evaporative Coolers

They’re definitely not a common type of air conditioner. However, in our neck of the woods, they do a great job. They’re also known as swamp coolers, in the way that they cool air through the process of evaporation. Air is cycled through the system where it flows over damp cooling pads that evaporate the water in the air.

This process is a fraction as energy-intensive as regular air conditioning. For the amount of cooling it provides, evaporative coolers are an extremely efficient and effective method for cooling air!

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps function similarly to central air conditioners except for one condition—the refrigerant can flow in reverse as well! This means you’ve got access to cooling in the summer, as well as heating in the winter! If you’re in the market for a multipurpose, all-year-round system that will keep you comfortable, look into a heat pump!

Ductless Heat Pumps

Average heat pumps and central air conditioners require extensive ductwork to be used properly. Without ducts, those systems won’t be able to provide cooling to your home. That being said, ductless heat pumps are an alternative cooling solution that allows cooling and heating without the need for air ducts!

These systems utilize four air handlers that are mounted on the walls of your home. Each air handler circulates refrigerant between itself and an outside cabinet, allowing for a customized cooling or heating approach. Each room of your home can be cooled to your specific standards!

Don’t hesitate to call our team if one of these systems sounds right for you. We’re experienced in the installation of all these air conditioners!
