3 Ways Technology Can Help Your Drain

Welcome to the 21st century! If you’re a time traveler, or just a passerby looking for some technological tips for plumbing systems, then we’re glad you could get here. Things have changed a lot in the plumbing industry over the last fifty years, and we’re assuming that things will continue to change as technological advancements are made. We’re always looking for newer, more reliable, and more affordable methods of getting rid of wastewater and bringing freshwater in.

So, in the spirit of being forward-thinking, we’d like to talk about three specific technological advancements that help tremendously with plumbing work. Don’t worry, you can still rely on the tried and tested handiwork of professional plumbing in Vermilion, AB, but our plumbers come with great equipment that’s as high-tech as it gets.

Let’s get to it! Here are three high-tech plumbing solutions that you can only take advantage of by calling a team of professional plumbers with access to them.

1. Hydro Jetting

There are lots of ways to remove a drain clog, but none of them are as powerful and effective as hydro jetting. We still use industrial-grade drain snakes and plungers to try and get out weak clogs, but every once in a while a drain will just be too stuck for those to work.

We have yet to run into a plumbing situation where a hydro jetter wasn’t effective. This system is basically a powerful, pressurized water jet attached to the end of an auger. The auger is lowered into your drain and the water jet naturally and forcefully removes any clogging material. Through sheer force of pressurized water, most drain-clogging materials will immediately give way.

2. Video Camera Pipe Inspection

If you hate taking a plumber’s word for it, just like other contractors, then you’re going to want some proof on how bad your drain situation might be. Thankfully, we’ve got you covered.

Video camera pipe inspection is a service where we use a camera system to physically show you the state of your drains. So, you can see for yourself how clogged it is and whether you need our professional help. No need to take our word for it anymore! (Although, we’re still glad to give it when it’s needed.)

3. Thermal Camera Imaging

Did you know that water leaks will always be a different temperature than the air surrounding them? Just like how a pool on a hot day will be chilly and comfortable, while the air is stiflingly hot, a water leak is going to be colder than the dry air.

In the past, plumbers had to rigorously scavenge through a home to find a plumbing leak. Or, they had to crawl through tight spaces and spend hours just trying to figure out a way to get to some of the plumbing systems they worked on. It really used to be such a nightmare. Now, with thermal camera imaging technology, that’s just not necessary.

Even if the leaks or puddles themselves might be hard to locate through our five senses, a thermal imaging sensor can pick up on the temperature differential and alert a professional to the leak almost immediately. This brings the time to locate a plumbing leak down dramatically and saves you money on labor costs!
